Mrs W. B. McCone presided at the monthly meeting of the Tokarahi branch. An interesting demonstration was given by Miss Robins (A.C.E. tutor) on the making of loose covers. The woollen comforts for the Mine Sweepers’ Fund were sent forward, and more wool was distributed. The “ cut flower ” competition resulted: Mrs Hamilton 1, Miss Henderson 2. The hostesses were Mesdames W. H. Simpson and R. Simpson. . The May meeting of the Ettnck branch was held last Tuesday, when Mrs Hainsworth presided. Mrs Bussweil gave an interesting and instructive talk on first aid, which was much appreciated. An enjoyable game was then arranged by Mrs Hainsworth. The hostesses were Mesdames Reichel and Gibson.

The Warrington branch held its monthly meeting at the home of Mrs A. Mclntosh on Wednesday evening. Mrs Standring presided. The roll call was “Where did you meet your husband ”? Mesdames Devlin and Proudfoot were elected to attend the conference in June. The competition was won by Mrs Proudfoot. In the abence of Mrs Wilson (president). Mrs Dawson presided over the meeting of the Henlev branch The baking competition, pikelets, was won by Mrs Dawson Members accorded a heartv vote of thanks to Mrs Annan (provincial president) and Mrs Elliott (Dominion vice-president) for their interesting talks regarding W.D.F.U. activities.

The Kelso branch met on May 13, when Mrs Williams presided. Mrs Annan gave a talk on conference business and W.D. matters. Arrangements were made to send goods to the “dugout” on June 6 The roll call was “ What I enjoyed most in last year’s programme The competition, a knitted pyjama girdle resulted —Mrs Jenkins 1, Miss Clark 2. Mrs Hitching 3. Twenty-five girdles were handed in to be sent on to the Red Cross. The competitions resulted: 8100m —Mrs Williams: spike—-Mrs Jenkins, The hostesses were Mrs Jenkins and Miss Clark.

Mrs W. Harvey presided at the monthly meeting of the Weston branch, and gave a special welcome to the division housekeeper, who is in the district at present. The motto was, “ Kind thoughts are never sown in vain.” The birthday party will be held in the Weston Hall on the afternoon of June 11. The roll call was “ Subscriptions, please.” Miss Robins, the A.C.E. tutor, gave an interesting demonstration on the making of gloves, mocassins and slippers. The competitions resulted:—Preserved pears: Mrs Falloon. Tea cosy: Mrs Falloon. Bloom: Miss R. Allan. The hostesses were Miss Allan and Mrs G. Brightwell, and Mrs Gemmel] was in charge of the social hour
