HERR HESS AS A PARTY LEADER. —Herr Rudolf Hess, who landed by parachute in Scotland after flying from Germany, was Hitler's right-hand man in the Nazi Party, and invariably took a leading, role in party organisations. This picture, taken at the Nazi Congress at Nuremburg in 1938, shows Hess, in the middle of the picture, occupying a place of honour. On the left is Hitler with the Mayor of Nuremburg. Streicher, the notorious Jew-baiter, has the chair beside Hess, and on the right is Dr Goebbels.
