Decision Reserved Olof Wilfred Magnus, carpenter, of Alexandra (Mr F. M. Hanan) applied for discharge from bankruptcy. In the course of his evidence bankrupt said that his wife had bought a car for £470, receiving £240 allowance on a car which she traded in. He was not aware where she received the money to buy the first car or to pay the balance on the second. When the car was sent to garages for repairs the proprietors of the garages were unaware that it was not his own, but his wife's. Those garage charges had not been paid. He had been on relief work for several years, but was now in regular employment with the Public Works Department. Out of his wages he had to maintain a sick wife and three children The official assignee (Mr J. M. Adam) submitted that the bankrupt's attitude towards his creditors in Central Otago had been unsatisfactory, as he could have made some contribution towards the liquidation of his debts during the past three years. Mr Adam asked that he should be ordered to pay the sum of 10s a week to his creditors until the of £IOO was reached, which would amount to a dividend of 5s in the.£. His Honor said he would take time to consider his judgment.
