RED CROSS SOCIETY
MEETING OF OTAGO CENTRE The first meeting for the year of the New Zealand Red Cross Society. Otago Centre, was held on Monday, Mr Charles V. Smith being chairman. Mrs R. Dawson reported that the guild rocms in the Queen's Buildings would be reopened on Monday and that they would be open on four afternoons weekly, Monday. Tuesday. Thursday and Friday. The thanks ot the committee were conveyed to Miss Eleanor Carswell, a. section leader of central detachment, and to all the members of her section for the splendid work done in connection with the VA.D. equipment room in Stuart street. The committee also thanked Miss Thelma Paine. cf the St. Clair Detachment, for a donation t to the same room of a cupboard, which will be extremely useful for V.A.D work.
Donations received from various friends of the society included the following:—University Dramatic Society, proceeds play "French Without Tears," £33 19s Id: pupils Columba College, £10; staff J. K. Mooney and Co., £5; "Anonymous." £3; Mrs G E. Bell, £2 10s; "Anonymous," £2; D. L. F. Social Club. £1 10s; T. E. Davis. £1 Is; Miss R. S. Ulrich. £1: St. Hilda's College Junior Red Cross, 15s; Miss W. Paterson (for V.A.D. equipment), 14s 7d.
