DAMAGE SUFFERED Bl" THE ILLUSTRIOUS.—According to a statement made at a Washington Press Conference by the U.S.A. Naval Secretary (Colonel Knox), H.M. Aircraft Carrier Illustrious received her recent scars in the Mediterranean from a direct hit by a 10001 b bomb. Although 80 men were killed 20 planes were destroyed, he said, her power and navigability were not affected and she was able to reach Malta and then Alexandria under her own power.
