FINE AND MILDER Forecast for Otago.—The following official weather forecast for Otago covering the ensuing 24 hours was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Winds from a westerly quarter, and becoming strong at times. A few showers, especially in the south, but weather mainly fair and mild. ; Seas rough south of the Nuggets, otherwise slight. Dominion Forecast.—A belt of high pressure extends from Australia to the north of New Zealand and a series of westerly depressions is passing in the south. Weather for most part fair to fine, occasional showers, however, in the western and far southern areas of the South Island. Temperature mild to warm Weather in Dunedin.—The weather yesterday was mainly dull and threatening, with occasional periods of sunshine. Temperatures varied considerably, ranging from 50 degrees to 79 degrees. The barometer was rising sharply last night at 30.16 inches (1021 millibars).
