NATIONAL RESERVE
PROPOSED COMPANY AT MOSGIEL A meeting of all returned soldiers in Mosgiel and district, convened for the purpose of discussing the formation of a company of the National Military Reserve, with headquarters at Mosgiel, was well attended Captain Woodfield, adjutant of the National Reserve Battalion, explained the objects of the reserve, the amount of training to be done, and the equipment issued. The meeting was unanimously in favour of the establishment of a company in the Taieri district, and all present intimated that they would canvass for further support to bring the numbers up to sufficient strength. It was left to the Mosgiel Returned Soldiers' Committee to attend to the preliminary detail organisation, and place an application before the Army Department for immediate attention. It was considered that there would be no difficulty in obtaining suitable training grounds for the parades.
