Ministerial The Minister of Defence (Mr F. Jones) will arrive in Dunedin this afternoon, and on arrival will pay a visit of inspection to the Royal NewZealand Air Force Station at North Taieri. In the evening, the Minister will be present on the saluting base in the Octagon, when the Air Force Band and members of the Air Force from the Taieri Station march past on their way to the band concert in theTown Hall. To-morrow morning Mr Jones will inspect the camp of the Ist Field Regiment, New Zealand Artillery, at Wingatui, and later will review the Ist Battalion, Southland Regiment, on Hancock Park.

The Minister of Manpower (Mr R. Semple) will arrive in Dunedin on Thursday next, and in the evening will address a public meeting in the Town Hall on the subject of the Home Guard.

Mr J. G. Coates, a member of the War Cabinet, ■ arrived in Dunedin by air yesterday morning, and before coming into the city paid a visit of inspection to the Royal New Zealand Air Force Station at North Taieri. He then visited the camp of the 3rd Field Regiment, New Zealand Artillery, at Wingalui, and after lunch inspected the camp of the Ist Battalion, Southland Regiment, at Forbury Park. Mr Coates left again by air for Christchurch shortly after 4 o'clock. Mr Guy Tapley was a passenger for Christchurch by the through express yesterday. Mr F. E. Tyson left for Wellington by the through express yesterday. Mr John Ewen, of Auckland, arrived from the north yesterday afternoon. Dr A C. Begg, who recently completed three years' post-graduate work in surgery in England, has returned to Dunedin. The Rev. Brian Kilroy, of St. Andrew's Church, Wellington, has returnd after two months in Sydney, where he supplied the pulpit of Scots Church. Mr Peter Glasson, accountant at the Bank of Australasia, Dunedin, has been appointed manager at the bank's office at Gore. Mr Glasson will leave Dunedin on Tuesday. Major-general Sir Andrew Russell. Inspector-general of the Forces, will leave Wellington to-day for the South. Island to commence a visit of the units of the Southern Command, mainly those of class 2, National Reserve, and will arrive in Dunedin to-morrow. After visiting the principal South Island centres he will return to Wellington on November 20.

Passengers by the north-bound Union Airways plane yesterday were Mr K. J. Lauder, Mr R. Dunbar, Mr R. W. McSkimming. and Major J. Abel for Christchurch, Dr A. Park, Mrs S. Retter, and Mr C. D. Gunn for Wellington, and Mrs A. J. Fraser and infant and Miss J. Buchanan for Auckland. Passengers by the south-bound airliner were Mr I. D. Anderson and Mr Ignaz Friedman from Christchurch.
