THE LIGHTER SIDE
JOKES AT ITALIAN EXPENSE (By Wireless) LONDON, Nov. 6. (Received Nov. 7, at 1 a.m.) A report from Ankara states that Turkish military circles are well satisfied with the Greek resistance. One newspaper, . replying to complaints from Rome that Italian victories are not reported in the Turkish press, says that the Italian communiques are published, but so far they have not reported any victories! Another Turkish newspaper makes reference to a statement issued in Rome declaring that Italy does not attack small States. It comments that there were no British troops in Greece when it was attacked by Italy, but there were British troops in Egypt, and yet no attack has been made there! A Greek paper pokes fun at Italy over the excuses that are being made for the slowness of the Italian advance. First, it says, there was bad weather, then snow, and then hail, then the mountains, and finally rain. It goes on to point out that there are no tarmac roads in Albania and no Red Carpet!
