No. 4 DISTRICT AUTHORITY A sitting of the N0.,4 District Transport Licensing Authority Was held in the Courthouse yesterday, Mr V.. Raines presiding. . New Licences T. ' Woodford, 1 Green Island, was granted a new goods licence: ! Decision on the application .of Mackintosh Caley Phoenix, Ltd., Dunedin, for a new goods licence for the carriage of cardboard boxes and cartons between Dunedin and Christchurch was reserved, a temporary licence being granted in the meantime. An application for a new goods licence by. the Otago Fruit and Produce Company, Ltd., Dunedin, was adjourned sine die at the request of the applicant. An application by W. "Waldron (Dunedin) for a licence to carry, lime and fertiliser between Dunedin and Cape Saunders was refused. Amendments to Licences J. J. Brogan (Fairfield) was granted an amendment of his goods licence to enable him to carry gear, spare parts, and petrol necessary for his contracting work in the Tuapeka County. The Bryant Transport Company was granted an amendment of its goods licence to enable it to carry lime in the Waipori Lake area. Transfers The following transfers of goods licences were granted:—D. C. M. Mclnnes to L. Ritchie, Dunedin; M. Collins to T. J. Heafey, Dunedin. Licence Reviewed The goods licence of ‘G. Andrew. Karitanc, was reviewed because the operator had not joined the Transport Operators’ Association. . ..He was given until November 30 to comply with the regulations in this respect. * Town Carrying Charges Representations concerning the proposed schedule of charges for town carrying were submitted by representatives of the Town Carriers’ Associationr the Dunedin Manufacturers’ Association. the Dunedin City Corporation, and individual operators. The most important representations concerned the application of the contract clause several operators maintaining that there should be no limitation of the amount of the contract, and that the right of private contract should be preseryed. The hearing was adjourned sine die to enable conferences between the various carrying organisations on the proposed schedule of charges to be held.
