BRITISH CHILDREN
BATCH REACHES AUSTRALIA NEARLY FIVE HUNDRED SYDNEY, Oct. 16. (Received Oct. 16, at 11.45 p.m.), The first batch of children evacuated from the United Kingdom to Australia has landed. A specially chartered liner brought 477, aged between five and 15 years, of whom 241 came to Sydney to-day. All were cheerful and well cared for.
