The monthly meeting of the Warepa Institute was held on Tuesday last, Mrs H. B. Flett presiding. The roll call was “ a sewing hint ” and the motto “To make a success of life, never let us make the same mistake twice.” A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mrs Heckler. The coal flowers which had been the subject of a demonstration at last meeting were on display, showing how they had developed. Miss Flett reported that altogether 12 soldiers’ parcels had been sent away. The “ Golden Thread ’’ was contributed by Miss Ross- who spoke on the works of Samuel Johnson. Miss Flett demonstrated drafting and cutting out patterns, measuring, etc. A competition, “ dust-cap ” rcr suited; Mrs E. Milligan 1 (only entry). Another competition was conducted by Mesdames W. Riddle and T. P. Stewart, and Mrs Stewart also displayed curios brought from India by her nephew, Mr Frank Cameron. The hostesses were Mesdames J. Johnstone and E. Cross and Miss Ayson.
