HOSPITAL SERVICE

TO THI EDITOR

Sir, —The statement by Mr Moody, chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, that “if he had his way, he would make the board’s employees work until they dropped, and keep working,” provides a first-class example of environmental repercussions on an old man’s mind Imagine a 100 per cent, fulfilment of Mr Moody’s views: not only would the patients experience a fast deterioration in service, but the staff itself would very quickly be in a state of mental and physical exhaustion; in fact, the hospital would cease to function. The sooner Mr Moody cools down and allows some common sense to permeate his opinions the better for all concerned.—l am, etc.. A. Caldwell. North-East Valley, Sept. 2'
