WAR GRAVES IN FRANCE
MAINTENANCE HOPES (From Our Own Correspondent) LONDON, Aug. 15. Anxie'.y is being felt by relatives of men killed in the last war and buried in France and Belgium lest the occupation of those countries by the Germans should result in the abandonment or neglect of the graves which have been so carefully tended during the past 20 years by the Imperial War Graves Commission. Inquiries made at the London headquarters of Sir Fabian Ware, Directorgeneral of the Commission, revealed that while the graves are at present necessarily isolated from the charge cf their regular paid attendants, every effort is being made to re-establish maintenance as soon as possible. Contact is now being sought with the Commission's field staff through the International Roa Cross and American channels, but communication is extremely slow. The possibility has been considered of seeking a suitable neutral representative who might be permitted by the Germans to tour the cemeteries and report to the Commission.
