BURNSIDE STOCK SALE

LATE RATES MAINTAINED A fairly large yarding of 285 head of fat cattle came forward for the Burnside stock sale yesterday. Prime heavyweights, .of which there were only a.few trucks, sold fully firm on late rates. Medium-weight cattle of both sexes, which made up the bulk of the entry, showed no variation, but' light and unfinished sorts were slightly easier than at the previous said Extra prime heavy bullocks made to £22 2s 6d; prime heavy bullocks, £l6 to £l7 17s 6d; prime medium bullocks,,£l3 2s 6d to £l4 7s 6d; light and unfinished, from £9. Extra prime heavy cows and heifers made to £l4 17s 6d; prime heavy cows and heifers, £lO 12s 6d to £l2 2s 6d; prime medium cows and heifers, £8 12s 6d to £9 10s; light and unfinished, from £6 10s. Only 50 head of store cattle were penned. All classes were represented, and sales were made at prices equal to last week's rates', A short yarding of 25 dairy cows came forward. Close profit sorts sold up to £l2 15s, and all received attention at prices showirfg no variation from the Rood sale of last week. I

The medium entry of 1520 fat sheep contained mostly ewes, ranging from prime down to I 'light and inferior. Wethers were represented by one particularly good consignment, • and the rest were mostly medium and light, a big percentage of which were of the, fine woolled type. Competition Was keen for prime quality, and a good sale resulted, at prices Is to 2s firmer. Hoggets were forward in small numbers, these selling at late rates. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 50s 9d; prime heavy wethers, 42s to 45s 6d: prime medium wethers, 33s 6d to 375: light, from 28s 6d; extra prime heavy young ewes, to 41s 6d; prime ewes, 33s to 37s 6d; medium ewes, 26s to 30s; light and inferior, from 19s. A short yarding of 103 fat pigs comprised equally of baconers and porkers met with a, bright sale, prices, especially for baconers, showing an advance of from 5s to 7s per head on the rates ruling last week. ' A total of .118 store pigs came forward to meet with an exceptionally good demand for this time of the year.
