RED CROSS APPEAL

FUNCTION AT HENLEY 7 OVER £l2B COLLECTED A very successful effort by , fh« people of the Henley district, netted the sum of £l2B 3s 9d for the Red Cross Appeal. An energetic committee — Messrs H. W. Wilson (chairman). A. T. Ross (deputy chairman). J. Hunter (secretary), and Miss Jenkin (assistant secretary)—was responsible for the excellent organisation. The principal event was a wheelbarrow, “ derby,” which cau-ed considerable amusement. The winners were Mr A. Parsons and Miss I. Taylor. Good business was done at a produce and cake stall, an auction mart and numerous competitions. Mrs Ross kindly gave the proceeds from the afternoon tea to the fund.
