FORECAST FOR OTAGO CHANGEABLE AND COOLER The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Winds turning to moderate to fresh south-westerlies. Weather becoming changeable, with scattered passing showers. Seas moderate. DOMINION FORECAST SCATTERED RAIN PROBABLE The following is the official forecast tor the Dominion:— A weak anti-cyclone extents from Eastern Australia across the Tasman Sea on to the North Island, while a depression is passing to the south of the South Island. Indications are for: — Winds. —Northerlies freshening temporarily in some exposed positions about and south of Cook Strait and later changing to southerly in the far south, otherwise winds light to moderate and variable. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Rather rough about Foveaux Strait and rising somewhat in Cook Strait, otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea; Moderate to strong north-west winds in the southern portion, changing later to southwest, with rather rough seas. High winds and slight to moderate seas in the central and northern portions. Weather—Mainly’ fair and milder. Rather unsettled, however, in southwestern and southern districts of the South Island, with scattered rain developing and isolated falls possiby extending later up the West Coast as far as Taranaki, WEATHER IN DUNEDIN The weather was calm and mild on Saturday and sunshine was recorded at the Daily Times Office for the first time in over' a week. The barometer was steady at a little under 30.00 inches (1016 millibars) and the maximum temperature was 57 degrees. Yesterday morning was fine and sunny but in the afternoon the sky became overcast and the temperature, which had risen $t mid-day to 59 degrees, dropped appreciably. The barometer rose to 30.00 inches (1016 millibars) in the morning, but it commenced to fall again, and at midnight the reading was 29.80 inches (1009 millibars).
