PRINCE OBLENSKY

The famous Rugby international. Pilot-officer Prince Oblensky. aged 24. was killed in an accident when landing a ,plane. He was a member of the English team which defeated Wales by 9 points to 3. He was selected for the return match, and won Rugby fame in a day by two remarkable tries for England against New Zealand at Twickenham, in 1936.
He was a Russian by birth but was naturalised in 1936. He was the first foreigner to gain a British Rugby cap, and he declared, “ having played for England. I want to fight for her.”
