ALLIES PLACE ORDER BIGGEST IN HISTORY NEW YORK, Mar. 29. (Received Mar. 31, at 7.30 p.m.) The Los Angeles correspondent of the United Press of America says that the BritishFrench Purchasing Commission has ordered 3500 warplanes at a cost of 200,000,000 dollars. It is the. largest order in history, although it is still subject to the sanction of the War Department. It is reported that the order includes 800 Douglas light attack bombers, 800 twin-engined Lockheed pursuit planes, 400 other Lockheeds, 1000 Curtis Wright, and 500 Beil pursuit planes.
