FLOCK RACE FROM ORARI The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew i. a flock race on Saturday from Orari. d This race was held in conjunction with it the New Zealand Racing Pigeon Federation Malcolmson Memorial Young Bird e Cup, the condition being that all clubs y fly 120 miles or over. The station h master liberated 120 birds from 17 lofts ) at 11 a.m. in fine weather, and the young e birds appreciated the conditions by put,s ting up a very fast flight, the winning 1. bird flying the distance of 124 miles in ;t 2hr 31min. The following is the result of the race, velocities being given in yards 3. per minute:— -• G. Yardley’s High Caste. 1444.9 .. .. 1 r J. Taylor’s Belmonte, 1439.9 2 '3 M, Anderson’s Hill Boy, 1438.5 3 s J. Scoullar’s Blue Queen, 1435,5 .. .. 4 *• J. Ramsay’s Golden Dawn, 1431.5 .. .. 5 v The club also flew a race for young d birds from Invercargill, where Mr D. - Strang liberated 82 birds from 16 lofts at >1 1.23 p.m. in threatening weather.
