ARCHBISHOP AVERILL

FAREWELL ADDRESS MOVING APPEAL FOR FAITH (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Mar. 24. “I do not believe in what is supposed to be a traditional farewell sermon,” said Archbishop Averill in his last official utterance as Bishop of Auckland at the Easter service in St. Mary’s Cathedral to-night. The Archbishop devoted his address to testifying his personal belief in the truth of the Resurrection, and concluded with a moving appeal for faith in the living Christ. "One thing that matters as 1 ray down the duties and responsibilities of a ministry of 50 years,” he said, “ is, have I been loyal to Jesus? Have I tried to lift Him up before the eyes of men? May God give you all real joy and happiness of this glorious Easter festival. God bless you.”
