FORECAST FOR OTAGO RISING TEMPERATURES PREDICTED The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Light to moderate winds, chiefly from a westerly quarter. Weather, fair to fine, with rising temperatures. Seas, slight to moderate. DOMINION FORECAST IMPROVEMENT OVER EASTER The following is the official weather forecast for the Dominion: — Thursday's depression moved off to the south-east, and an anti-cyclone now extends from Australia across the Tasman Sea on to New Zealand. The highest pressures are still, however, well to the west. Indications are for:— Winds. —Moderate to strong southwesterly to southerly prevailing, decreasing gradually in force; later becoming variable over the South Island. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Moderate north of Castlepoint and in the far south. Elsewhere rather rough to rough, but decreasing. Eastern Tasman Sea: Fresh south to west winds. Rather rough seas, but wind and sea decreasing gradually. Weather.—Cool and changeable, with isolated showers, but improving. Some frosts probable at night in the South . Island. Present indications are for the improvement to be maintained over most of the Easter period.

WEATHER IN DUNEDIN The sun shone on Thursday morning and for some time during the afternoon and the tembperature, despite a freshening south-west breeze, rose to a maximum of 73 degrees. The barometer fell verv quickly to 29.15 inches (987 millibars). There were passing clouds yesterday and the breeze from the southwest was strong at times. The temperatures were mild, the maximum being 60 degrees. The barometer was rising steadily and the midnight reading was 30.10 inches (1019 millibars).
