J. Gimblett, Hastings, and H. J. Andrew, Maheno. In 1935, at the Sale of Imported Sou hdowns, Mr Hunt purchased an English Royal Show prize-winning ram, " Upper Swell," 25 of 34 bred by W. E. H Hebblethwaite, England, who used the sheep in his stud as a lamb when he sired the prize-winning rams at the Oxfordshire and Three Counties Show. , This ram "nicked nartipiilarlv well with the PanK GimWetl and Punchbowl ewes leaving a high Proportion °* s ™<* sires two of which, Nos. 14/36 and 50/ 36 have been used with great success in ihe stud. The sheep have beautiful heads long level backs with ideal lowset bodief. Their constitutions are llcond to none, due to being reared amongst the Central Otago mountains at a high altitude.
