MISSION IN EUROPE

MR SUMNER WELLES DUE AT BERLIN YESTERDAY ZURICH, Feb. 28. Thousands cheered Mr Sumner Welles on his arrival. He will go to Berlin to-morrow. Meanwhile authorised Nazi sources in Berlin have damped foreign hopes that Hitler will suggest a threepoint peace covering the formation of a new and smaller Polish State, self-government for Bohemian Czechs, and disarmament conditionally on the restoration of German colonies. The Diplomatische Korrespondenz declares that peace is inconceivable without correction of wrongs which have persisted for centuries. FRENCH PRESS COMMENT A PERTINENT QUESTION PARIS, Feb. 28. The Petit Parisien wonders whether he will be allowed to visit Warsaw, Prague and Vienna.
