Reports of meetings of branches are requested, but they should be furnished promptly, tor the publication of report? that are not supplied within a week from the date of the meeting cannot be promised Mrs Adams presided at the monthly meeting of the Heriot Institute held on Thursday last. The motto was, " Don't hide to-day's sunshine behind to-mor-row's clouds," and the roll call, " Soap recipes." It was decided to write for full particulars of knitting schemes for the soldiers. A February brideelect. Miss Joyce Kempthorne, was presented with a novelty bouquet. Mrs Morrow provided the social item, a mystery parcel game. A feature of the evening was a handiwork demonstration on the making of cane trays by Miss Gwen McKenzie. The competitions resulted:—Hat decorated with natural flowers—Miss Milmine 1, Mrs Sharp 2, Mrs Sim and Miss Moncur f equal) 3; best bloom—Mrs Foster 1, Mrs M. Paterson 2. The hostesses were Mesdames Sim, Sharp. E. B. Paterson. and G. Steel.
