FORECAST FOR OTAGO CONDITIONS CLOUDY AND COOL The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— 1 Moderate to fresh south-westerly winds. Indications are for:— Moderate northerlies at first in the Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay area, otherwise winds between south-east and south-west prevailing. Moderate to strong generally, reaching gale or strong gale force in many places from Marlborough northwords. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Moderate south of Bank's Peninsula and Farewell Spit, elsewhere rough to high. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong southerly winds to gales, rough seas. Weather.—Fair to' cloudy in western and southern areas of the South Island, elsewhere stormy and unsettled. Widespread rain probable, with heavy falls, and flooding likely in central areas: and later in the Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay districts. Temperatures cool.
