“GODLESS RUSSIA”

ro THE EDITOR

Sir, —The sudden entry of Russia into the fighting arena of Europe may well point to and be the beginning pf the deliverance of her people. Russia is a country that is tightly shut up. None can go in and none can come out. It is a country without a soul. The people have been denied access to that' which makes them men, viz., no church. There is no preacher, no Sunday, no feast day, no ceremony on the high days of life. Nothing but drab statistics. Wearisome propaganda and unremitting toil for insufficient food and ragged clothes. Every chance traveller that passes through this unhappy land of Communism remarks upon the apathy of the masses, their mute animal-like patience, the hopeless look upon their faces, and their aimless walking to and fro, all this, mark you, is due to the much-yaunted and lauded Communistic rule of Stalin But before deliverance can come to Russia’s proletariat, -that country must be opened and the now-movirtg army may do it, The problem is, therefore, to save the world from Communism, Communism must not be fought by force of arms, but by teaching, the people to. think clearly for themselves and to realise fully that democracy “ conserves the welfare of everyone.” It is quite possible that this is the great dav of deliverance and that England ard France are the Gideon? to weild the sword of the Lord. —I am. etc. C. E. Knight. Evangelist Dunedin, Oct. 27.
