TOWN HALL DANCE

AIR FORCE TRAINEES AS GUESTS NEW DANCE INTRODUCED Features of the weekly Town Hall dance on Saturday night were the attendance of Royal Air Force trainees as guests of the management, and the introduction of a new dance. Despite the heavy rain that had fallen all afternoon and evening there was a particularly large crowd of dancers and spectators, who seemed to enjoy themselves to the full. Members of the Royal Air Force came in all the way from Wingatui to attend the dance, and their attractive uniforms added a touch of colour to the scene. . A new dance entitled ‘ The Patty Cake, Patty Cake” was demonstrated by two pupils of Miss Connie Potts. Miss Joyce Meinung and Mr Corry Donovan. The demonstration was much enjoyed, and the dance attracted considerable interest. Five vocalists assisted Dick Colvin’s Band on Saturday night. They were Miss Irene Brookes, Messrs James Macfarlane, Arthur Waller. Jack Priestley, and George Thorne, and all their numbers were greatly enjoyed.
