DEFENCE SHOOTING

KAITANGATA CLUB The Kaitangata Defence Rifle Club fired the first stage of the Lee Cup (second competition) on Saturday, 11 members being present. Seven counting shots and one optional sighter each for competitors were fired at 500 and 600 yards. The highest scores at 500 yards were obtained by R Kitto 34, R. G. Anderson 34 and L. G. Bell 34. and at 600 yards L. G. Bell 34 and H. L Morgan 34. The day’s aggregate was headed by L. G. Bell with 68 off the rifle. The following were the scores:—

KIWI CLUB The Kiwi Club opened the season on Saturday, when the first stage of the President’s Match was fired. The competition was seven shots and one optional sighter at 300 and 500 yards. Unfortunately conditions became very bad. especially at the 500 yards range, when driving rain made visibility poor. The highest scores off the rifle were by Rifleman K. Stewart 66, Rifleman H. Butel 65 and Rifleman J. McShain 64. The following were the scores:—
