. THE MOONEE VALLEY CUP GILLTOWN BEATS L’AIGLON (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, Oct. 28. (Received Oct. 29, at 8 p.m.) Describing the Moonee Valley Cup, the Melbourne correspondent of the' Sunday Sun says: "The judge’s verdict for Gllltown Instead of L’Aiglon resulted In exceptionally noisy hooting and jeering for 10 minutes." The correspondent adds that the demonstration was not justified, but it emphasised the need for some kind of electrical photograph as a check on close finishes. In a thrilling finish for the Moonee Valley Cup, Gllltown just stalled off the fastfinishing L’Aiglon. Rlvette, who was last early, lost no Melbourne Cup friends by running an excellent third. Ortelle’s Star was a good fourth. Pantoon ran a poor race. Gllltown’s 2mln 42Jsec was a course record, and only (sec outside the Australian and New Zealand record. Mosaic finished brilliantly to set a course record In the W. S. Cox Plate. Gold Salute looked a winner a furlong from home, but was unable to withstand Mosaic's run. He was, however, not disgraced. Reading ran a fair third. Beauvlte was going extra well when he fell three furlongs from home. He would have taken part In the finish. High Caste lost his chance through Interference when Beauvite fell. Catalogue failed, and would be better suited by a longer journey. Bartle up. galloped a mile on the sand in Imln 45sec at Caulfield on Saturday morning. The first four furlongs were covered In 52sec, six furlongs in Imin 18sec. Respirator Is very fit, but is not likely to race again before the Melbourne Cup.
