The successful applicant may be required to take up a position at any centre in New Zealand, but an appointee would probably be stationed at one of the larger centres. Duties include investigation. of cases of children and youths coming before the courts; placement of boys and State wards in situations where necessary, and their subsequent supervision. The appointee should have organising ability and should be prepared to undertake social constructive work amongst youth, in the community. Further study of social welfare literature and the special legislation will be necessary to qualify for promotion. The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the various Acts and Regulations affecting the Public Service. The successful applicant will require to bear any expense incurred in travelling to take up a position.
