Tour by King and Queen The King and Queen on Friday made a tour of the units of the balloon barrage section of the Royal Air Force in different parts of London. Mr Chamberlain Mr Chamberlain had an audience with the King on Friday evening. The Duke of Kent The Duke of Kent paid a surprise visit to Glasgow and inspected shipyards and other industrial establishments engaged in work of national importance. Films for the Forces The Secretary for War (Mr L. HoreBelisha) has decided, in view of the greatly-increased demands for the supply of films for the forces, to set up a new organisation representative of the interests concerned. He has appointed an entertainments officer. Golden Gale Exposition A San Francisco message states that the Golden Gate Exposition Company, under a special section of bankruptcy law. asked the help of the Federal Court in liquidating its affairs. The listed debts amount to 4,606,000 dollars. A Playboy Bored A New York message slates that Tommy Manville, heir to the asbestos millions, impulsively chartered a 28passenger airliner at a cost of 3000 dollars to fly Elinor Troy, a Los Angeles showgirl, alone to New York. He told the press that he was making her his fifth wife, adding; "The war news is boring me, and I decided to get something else on the front pages.” Removal to Safety School children numbering 1500 or more from Rosyth and Forth bridge, the scene of recent air raids, are being evacuated. Ration Raised The British Secretary of Mines (Captain H. F. C. Crookshank) has announced the raising of the gas and electricity ration from 75 per cent, of last year’s consumption to 100 percent. The rationing of machinery relating to these commodities remains in operation.
