INTERNED IN BELGIUM
PILOT OFFICER A. W. MACK (From Our Own Correspondent) LONDON. Sept. 22. The High Commissioner for New 7 n--i a nd has been informed that Pilot Officer A. W. Mack (Wellington) has been interned in Belgium after the aeroplane he was piloting was brought down over Belgian territory. Mr G W. Clinkard, the New Zealand Trade and Tourist Commissioner has talked with him. and has stated that he is well, very comfortable and well treated. Steps have been taken to sec that he is; supplied with everything that he requires, . The International Red Cross Society will shortly form an establishment for a clearing house dealing with prisoners of war. Through it communication will probably be established with Pilot Officer L. H. Edwards (Patea) who was shot down during the Kiel canal rtfid. Large premises have been taken ‘"pflof Officer Mack arrived in England to join the Royal Air Force m August 1937. He was appointed acting pffiot officer in SeptemW. 1938 and graded pilot officer shortly afterwards.
