Some m'isunderstanding has been S caused by the announcement made In India of postponement, until further notice of the sailing of ships from Indian ports to Jedda in connection with the Hejaz pilgrimage. This announcement was one of the regrettable but inevitable consequences of the outbreak of war. ft was issued as a precautionary measure. Certain sailings, were cancelled, and. these only, for a temporary period. , ■ v ’ Both the British and Indian Governments are alive to the great import-, ance of providing adequate facilities for the safe transport of Muslims wishing to undertake the pilgrimage; Every effort accordingly was made to secure resumption of sailings,' and arrangements have now been made for th« reservation of a • certain number o 4 ships for pilgrims from Indian ports to Hejaz. , . . ~ .
