YESTERDAY’S REGISTRATIONS OTAGO TOTAL NOW 1147 The total of area II registrations in the special New Zealand military Force was brought up to 1147 by the 4 names entered at the Kensington Drill Hall recruiting office yesterday. NO SERIOUS ILLNESS HEALTH OF TROOPS AT BURNHAM Rumours of widespread epidemics of stomach trouble and Influenza at Burnham Military Camp were discounted by the officer commanding the Southern Military District (Colonel P. H. Bell). In an official statement regarding the health of the troops, Colonel Bell said that there were 44 cases of influenza of a mild character, due chiefly to the weather. The epidemic was dying down, and in all cases progress was satisfactory. There were 36 cases in the camp hospital. These Included nine eye cases, chiefly due to dust, but this complaint was not so prevalent as a few days ago, when there were double the number,. The remaining cases in hospital were of a general character, largely due to the aftereffects of the T.AB. injection against typhoid.
