THE OTAGO UNION MEETING OF COMMITTEE The final meeting for the season of the Committee of Management of the Otago Rugby Union was held last night. The president (Mr D. C. Jolly) occupied the chair. The town clerk (Mr R. A. Johnston) wrote stating that the Reserves Committee of the City Council was of opinion that an effort should be made by the union to release as many grounds as possible by the middle of September to enable the Reserves Department to make a commencement with the preparation of the wickets for the cricket season. When the football grounds were allotted up to the end of September it was not possible to have wickets ready for use until late in October. This aspect of the matter would be considered when the allocation of grounds for the next football season was being made. The letter was received, the chairman stating that the communication would give them food for thought in the meantime. The matter would come -up again when the city grounds available for football were allotted next year. Life Membership Badge The annual social arranged by the Flag Committee to mark the end of the season was then held, and opportunity was taken to hand Mr H. Harris the life membership badge of the New Zealand Rugby Union. Mr Harris was elected a life member of the union at the last annual meeting. Mr D. M. Spedding, a member of the council of the New Zealand Union, handed the badge to Mr Harris, and m doing so, paid a high tribute to the recipient for bis services to Otago and New Zealand football for many years past. Other members eulogised Mr Harris's work for the game, and the recipient suitably responded. '
