Mr Charles Todd left on Saturday for Wellington.

Mr J. McG. Wilkie was a passenger by the through express for the north on Saturday on his way to Wellington. The Rev. W. N. Flett, of the Roslyn Baptist Church, will leave shortly for Burnham, where he will take up duties at the military camp with the Y.M.C.A. The Rev. G. H. Jupp, of Anderson’s Bay, has been nominated by the Wellington Presbytery for the position of moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church for the year beginning November. 1940. A distingufshed New Zealand archaeologist, Dr A. D. Trendall, has been appointed Professor of Greek in the University of Sydney. Dr Trendall is 30 years of age. He recently lectured at the four universities in New Zealand on excavation work in Italy.

Mr L. J. Cronin, formerly editor of the Tablet, will shortly relinquish the managing-editorship of the New Zealand Financial Times, the paper having changed hands. He has occupied the position for two years and a-half, and will be succeeded by Mr Howar Elliott. Mr Cronin will continue as editor and proprietor of the Students’ Digest.

Northbound passengers by Union Airways on Saturday morning were Messrs A. Campbell, G. S. McLeod, R. Milne, and J. C. Tait for Christchurch, Messrs S. C. Sutherland, T. Smith. J R. Baillie, and W Thompson for Wellington, Miss P. Arnott for Palmerston North, and Mr H Ramsay for Auckland. Southbound passengers included Mr W. Robinson from Christchurch Northbound passengers yesterday were Mrs R. C. Croal for Christchurch. Mrs O. T. Evans and Messrs J. M. Prentice and W. Morrison for Wellington. Southbound passengers were Mr R. J. Hay from Wellington and Mr G. S. McLeod from Christchurch.
