PRICE OF MEAT
INCREASE MADE IN AUCKLAND BUTCHERS SELLING AT LOSS (Per United Press Association/ AUCKLAND. Oct. 15. The retail prices of beef,and mutton will be increased by the Auckland master butchers to-morrow. It is stated that the butchers are in serious financial difficulties and that they have become desperate at the delay in obtaining consent from the Price , Investigation Tribunal to increase the retail rates. The prices of pork,, veal and lamb will not be affected. The butchers stated that they had been selling for fully_ seven weeks at retail prices representing a loss of 23s on every bullock and .7a pn every sheep.
