POSITION OF PARLIAMENTARIANS IN EVENT OF ELECTION (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Oct. 5. The position of members of the House of Representatives on active service overseas was pointed out by Mr J, Hargest (Opposition, Awarua) during the second reading debate on the Finance Bill (No. 2) in the House of Representatives this morning. He said that these members would be at a distinct disadvantage in the event of an election taking plnce during their absence from New Zealand. The Acting Prime Minister (Mt P. Fraser) said that the only way of overcoming a situation such as that seemed to be by means of some arrangement between the contesting political parties.
