MINISTER'S ANNOUNCEMENT LOCKHEEDS EXEMPT FROM ORDER (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON. Oct. 4. All the aircraft owned by Union Airways and Cook Strait Airways, with the exception of the Lockheed airliners owned by Union Airways, are to be taken over by the Government for training Royal New Zealand Air Force personnel, according to an announcement made by the Minister of Defence (Mr F. Jones) this evening. It is possible that some modified form of air service in the Dominion will still be operated. . "Cook Strait Airways and Union Airways have been advised that all aircraft owned by both companies, with the exception of the Lockheeds owned by Union Airways, are required by the New Zealand Royal Air Force for training purposes." the Minister said.
