POTATO GROWERS

ALLEGED EXPLOITATION QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Sept. 27. An instance of “exploitation” by Canterbury potato growers Is quoted in words by Dr D. G. McMillan (Govt.. Dunedin West) in a question of which he gave notice in the House of Representatives to-day. Dr McMillan will ask the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr D. G. Sullivan) whether he has seen the complaints of Canterbury potato growers that the importation of potatoes from Canada will prevent them from obtaining high prices for upwards of 1000 tons of potatoes they were holding in expectation, of a continuance of the shortage. Dr McMillan is asking whether the Minister will take steps to prevent such apparent exploitation of consumers in the future.
