MORNINGTON CLUB ANNUAL MEETING The Mornington Cricket Club held its annual meeting on Wednesday, the president (Mr A, E. Jelley) presiding. The president spoke highly ox the performances of the various teams, particularly that of the Third Grade players. Regarding finance, he stressed the fact that, although the club’s balance showed an increase, the position was not altogether satisfactory. The material account had been light, and he urged members to support the club’s activities in every way. Mr Jelley spoke in appreciative terms of the services of Messrs G. E. Laing and C, J Robertson, retiring treasurer and secretary respectively, and later a resolution expressing the club’s thanks to them was carried unanimously. F Dennison and H. Brown. TROPHY AWARDED TO V. LEADER The annual report of the Otago Cricket Association congratulated V. Leader on winning the Wycherley Trophy, which is awarded to the best Otago bowler in Plunket Shield matches The report expresses complete satisfaction with the services of the coaches —Messrs A. Galland, A. R. Knight and O, Everson Mention is also made of the fact that a visit from an Australian team headed by D G Bradman had been expected, but it is pointed out that the outbreak of war will probably result in a curtailment of all branches of sport.
