NORTH-EAST VALLEY SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE The monthly meeting of the NorthEast Valley School Committee was held on Monday night, when Mr J. J. Paul presided over a full attendance.. The headmaster reported that the roll number on reopening after the term holidays was 468. with 99 at Opoho. The winter sports competitions were almost completed. The girls’ basketball teams had played particularly well. One boy, L. Hill, had been chosen for the Otago Association football team that played in Christchurch, ' ' - S Winter had been appointed captain of the Otago schools’ Kugby football team to play against Southland, while h*.* J. Judge was also in the team and A. Kitchen was an emergency. , The annual report of the inspectors was laid on the table, and was considered to-be satisfactory. n.- - The Education Board advised that the building of the new room at Opoho had been deferred in the meantime owing to the wet weather. The comr mittee expressed a hope that this ad-,, dition would not be much longer,,,;, delayed, as it Was urgently needed,.. Ten more tables and chairs haye 1 been' ordered for Opoho. ■ ; < ' ; Messrs Jensen and Zimmermann were appointed a Visiting Committee for October 2.
