THE WEATHER

FORECAST FOR OTAGO FOG, WITH RAIN DEVELOPING The following weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued by the Government Meteorological Office, Wellington, at 4 p.m. yesterday:— Light to moderate bat freshenin; winds between east and north In the morning, low cloud or possibly fog probable on the east coast Weather otherwise fair at first but becoming unsettled with scattered ram or drizzle developing. Temperatures moderate and seas .slight to moderate. DOMINION FORECAST SCATTERED RAIN PROBABLE The following is the official weather forecast ,for Pressure is relatively low and uniform over New Zealand, A very deep depression situated immediately to the east of Tasmania is moving slowly In a south-easterly direction. Indications are for: Winds.—North-westerly to northerly predominating over the North Island, and north-easterly over the south, force oUght to moderate but gradually freshening in the' south. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Slight tP moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate north-westerly winds and slight seas in the northern portion, and freshening north-easterly winds and moderate but rising seas in the southern portion. Weather. —Some scattered rain or drizzle possible in most districts; otherwsie mainly fair to cloudy in the morning, with low cloud or fog possible oh the east coast of the South Island; unsettled conditions gradually developing, however, in the south and west; temperatures milder. WEATHER IN DUNEDm The sky was overcast yesterday, and there was a light breeze from the north-east. Temperatures were mild, the maximum being 53deg. The barometer was falling, .in the afternoon at 29.52 in. The sky was, heavily overcast in the evening, and a misty rain commenced to fall shortly before midnight. The barometer remained unchanged.
