THE PORT BOWEN

TO THE EDITOR

Sir,—One wonders whether the Port Bowen is to be salvaged or not. She seems to be just on a bed of sand, with no rocks. If three or four strong jets of water from powerful pumps were turned on to that sand, a channel might be blown through it to let her float and the stern kedged round till it pointed out to sea. Then the ship might be moved back out of the beach sand to deep water and safety.—l am. etc.. Sluicer. Roxburgh, August 11.
