ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Football Association was held last night. The chairman (Mr M. J. Haig) presided. An apology was forwarded from the Otago High School Old Boys' Club for the default of its Third Grade team on August 5. It was stated that the default was due to lack of players.— The letter was received. To a suggestion that a representative game between South Canterbury and Otago should be played at Timaru on August 19. the South Canterbury Association wrote stating that that was the date for a visit from a team from Canterbury. Any date after August 19 would be free. For various reasons, an Otago team was preferred to a club team.—lt was stated that a circular had been sent to the clubs asking for nominations for players, but the response had been poor. It was therefore decided to hold over the selection of a team until next meeting. August 26 would be a convenient date for the association. The chairman stated that he had received an application from the Presbyterian Sunday Schools' League for the use of three grounds on the Oval.—lt was. decided to allow the grounds to be used on either September 23 or September 30.
