STAFF BALL
VACUUM OIL COMPANY Pleasant surroundings, cleverly contrived lighting effects and blazing log fires all help towards a social atmosphere, and a matching mood captured those who attended the annual staff dance of the Vacuum Oil Company held in the Somerset Lounge of the Savoy on Friday night. Bren Finlayson's orchestra was responsible for an enlivening programme of dance music, and the arrangements for the function itself had been carried out by a committee comprising Messrs F. Ellis. a. S. Solomon, and G. Stirling (M.C.) and Miss Billie Jopp. Squeakers and paper hats were distributed during the evening, and prizes for novelty dances went to Miss Pat Strachan and Mr Jack Beard (statue dance) and Mr and Mrs J. Dick (Monte Carlo). Special guests included Mr R. JLaurenson (manager of the Vacuum Ofl Company) and Mrs Laurenson. Mr McLean (of the Wellington office) ana Mr R.
