TAXI DRIVERS' STRIKE
WORK RESUMED AFTER CONFERENCE TERMS OF SETTLEMENT (Per United Press Association; HAMILTON, Aug. 14. The strike of 20 taxi drivers employed by the Checker Company, Hamilton, which commenced on Friday afternoon, ended this morning, when the men agreed to resume serFollowing a conference between the parties and Mr E. J. Phelan, No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority, an agreement was reached in which a number of recommendations are to be sent to the Minister of Transport (Mr R. Semple) for his approval. The men resumed on a basis of- £5 for a 60-hour week, which is according to the claims made.
