ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
STRUCK BY MOTOR CAR ELDERLY WOMAN KILLED (Per United Presei Association; AUCKLAND, Aug. 13. Knocked down by a motor car in Devonport on Saturday night, an elderly woman suffered concussion and. head injuries and died in a private hospital this morning. The victim was Mrs Maria Sandford, aged 62, married, of Devonport. The accident occurred almost outside the public library. The driver of the car was Trevdr Mathers, of Grafton road. CAR COLLIDES WITH POLE WOMAN PASSENGER INJURED (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 13. When a motor car in which she was a passenger collided with a telegraph post in Otahuhu, Miss Lorraine Rosalind Vttali, aged 21, a dressmaker, of Otahuhu, suffered concussion. Her condition on admission to hospital was considered to be serious. CAR OVER BANK When the car in which she was a passenger went over a bank at Caversham on Saturday evening, Mrs Rodgers, a middle-aged woman, who resides at Kaitangata, received head injuries. She was admitted to Hospital at 6.15. FAITfROM CYCLE 'When his bicycle skidded on the frosty surface of the road while he was riding his machine in Timaru on Saturday, Donald Hutcheon, an elderly man, residing at 11 Grey street, Musselburgh, fell and injured his hip. He was brought to Dunedm by car and was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital at 7.45 p.m.
