NETHERLANDS BANK
SUSPENSION OF PAYMENTS MORATORIUM ASKED FOR AMSTERDAM, Aug. 11. The suspension of payments by Mendelssohn's bank caused only slight excitement. It is understood that the trouble is due chiefly to lack of liquid funds owing to the bank accepting the entire responsibility for a number of French issues which subsequently proved impossible to place in Holland. The bank asks for one year's moratorium, after which there should be no difficulties.
A message published on Saturday stated that the bank suspended payment after the death of the senior partner, Fritz Mannheimer.
